Laurie Anderson

Laurie Anderson is an experimental American performance artist, composer and musician. She was originally trained as a sculptor, and did her first piece of performance art in the late 1960s, and through the 1970s she did a variety of different performance art related activities. She has been a pioneer of electronic music, inventing several different devices through which to make music, most notably her invention in the late 1990s of the talking stick, a MIDI controller that can access and replicate various sounds. She started dating Lou Reed in 1992, before marrying him in 2008, until his death in 2013.
