New York, I love you but you're bringing me down
LCD soundsystem was a dance-punk band in New York City that released three critically acclaimed albums, before their split in 2011. Their farewell concert is chronicled in the documentary film “Shut Up and Play the Hits”. The band released their first album in 2005, which included the popular “Daft Punk Is Playing At My House”, which would go on to enter the UK top 40, and be featured on several video games. They regrouped and put out their second album “Sound of Silver” in 2007. They continued to tour, and after the release of their third LP in 2010, they commenced their last full tour, with fellow dance-pop group Hot Chip. In Janury 2011 it was announced that James Murphy, the band’s creator, would be retiring the LCD soundsystem name.
