The Joubert Singers

The Joubert Singers were a gospel funk group from New York led by Phyllis McKoy Joubert. Their hit song “Stand on the Word”, recorded at First Baptist Church in Crown Heights, Brooklyn picked up by leading NY producer Walter Gibbons who introduced it to New York’s clubs. The song was received well by the crowds, leading to an iconic remix by Paradise Garage resident Larry Levan. “Stand on the Word” has been given a Jury Award at the Cannes International Film Festival and has been used for Samsung’s TV commercials in France.
